United Church of Canada

Newfoundland and Labrador Conference

With joy in our hearts and a song on our lips we,

the Newfoundland and Labrador conference of The United Church of Canada,

believe that we are called by God to love and serve others.

Through our various shared ministries in the name of Jesus Christ,

we are called to uphold the gifts and skills in each other;

to honour differences;

to be accepting of change while honouring heritage and traditions;

to seek justice

and through all of this to know that we are not alone.

Thanks be to God

We are seeking an enthusiastic, full time ordained, diaconal or designated lay minister to take care of some 275 households in this rural but beautiful area of NL. We have ten communities forming four congregations on the island and the minister does two worship services per Sunday alternating between the four churches. We have a well kept, three bedroom manse with a fully functional office inside.
Random Island is located just minutes from the main service hub of Clarenville and is connected by a short causeway. There, all the amenities of a small town are located including a hospital, shopping centers, banks, hotels, restaurants, vocational school and medical clinics.
Random Island has a total population of approximately 1200 people. We have a K-12 school, convenience stores, gas stations, ambulance and funeral home as well as a senior citizens' home. There is a seasonal fish plant located in Hickman's Harbour and most people work in and around the Clarenville area.
