Newfoundland and Labrador Conference

With joy in our hearts and a song on our lips we,

the Newfoundland and Labrador conference of The United Church of Canada,

believe that we are called by God to love and serve others.

Through our various shared ministries in the name of Jesus Christ,

we are called to uphold the gifts and skills in each other;

to honour differences;

to be accepting of change while honouring heritage and traditions;

to seek justice

and through all of this to know that we are not alone.

Thanks be to God

About Us

Let your adventure in ministry begin here in the Newfoundland and Labrador Conference. This is the most easterly Conference within The United Church of Canada. A Conference whose borders are the same as the provincial borders. It's a place that Microsoft recognizes as having its own time zone. And why not. It's where the sun rises first. It's the newest province with an incredible past.

Executive Minister Announcement & Congratulations!

Dear Friends:

The Newfoundland and Labrador Conference wish to congratulate the Reverend Faith March-MacCuish on her provisional appointment as Executive Minister of Regions 14, 15 and 16 (Gaspe, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador and Bermuda). The appointment is provisional until the results of Remit 1 have been enacted by the 43rd General Council in July 2018.

We join together as we wish Faith well in her provisional appointment as Executive Minister. We pray for her and for the church in these changing times. May God continue to walk with Faith as she begins this work with the new regional cluster. Blessings in this new appointment.

We ask that you join us in prayer for guidance through change:

God of the journey, as Moses lead the Israelites through the wilderness towards the Promised Land, we know that transition can be quite difficult. They stumbled, fell, complained and asked “why did we ever leave what was known to journey to a place that is unknown”. Leaving the familiar to journey to the new is unsettling and takes patience, understanding and bravery. We pray as we begin to realize that change is upon us, that you will journey with this United Church of ours, that you will guide us and help us to create all things new. Loving God, for the churches in this Conference, we ask that you will journey with them. When we stumble, help us to get back up, when we ask why did we ever decide to change, help us to grieve what we have lost and open our eyes to see a new vision. God of grace, we know that change is difficult because change affects people. We pray for our staff who, in the midst of all the changes, continue to work diligently to support the congregations and the wider church. God of the journey, continue to lead us through this time of great change. Help us to see glimpses of the Promised Land. Fill us with hope and grace we pray. Amen
