Newfoundland and Labrador Conference

With joy in our hearts and a song on our lips we,

the Newfoundland and Labrador conference of The United Church of Canada,

believe that we are called by God to love and serve others.

Through our various shared ministries in the name of Jesus Christ,

we are called to uphold the gifts and skills in each other;

to honour differences;

to be accepting of change while honouring heritage and traditions;

to seek justice

and through all of this to know that we are not alone.

Thanks be to God

About Us

Let your adventure in ministry begin here in the Newfoundland and Labrador Conference. This is the most easterly Conference within The United Church of Canada. A Conference whose borders are the same as the provincial borders. It's a place that Microsoft recognizes as having its own time zone. And why not. It's where the sun rises first. It's the newest province with an incredible past.

Project St. John’s
I am writing you today to ask for your support in promoting The GO Project’s planned program activities in Newfoundland this year.
The GO Project started at Islington United Church over 12 years ago, out of a desire from the youth group at the time to go on a mission trip. They found it difficult to find an organization that fit with their understanding of theology and our call as Christians to be the hands and feet of this world while being radically welcoming. Over 12 years of ministry within the United Church, The GO Project has run youth programs in seven cities, and children’s adventure camps in over twenty cities and towns across the country.
All GO Project programs are safe spaces for people who, identify as LGBTQ+, are of racial or cultural minorities, who are questioning their faith, are longing for a place to belong, are of all physical abilities, desire to create change in their communities and world, and need to both receive and send more love into the world.
Our hope is that each participant and staff have an ‘aha-moment’ while at GO, serving others, breaking bread together, and having fun with one another, and can leave the program with an action plan on how they can act and serve with their own gifts and skills in their communities.
The GO Project has run summer programs for youth in Newfoundland and six other sites across Canada since 2006 and the feedback from participants has been extremely positive.
" My experience with The GO Project not only allowed me to gain friends that I keep in contact with 5 years later, but also exposed me to the importance of volunteer work, living in community, and how church can take shape outside of the four walls of a building. The GO Project made me feel welcomed, appreciated, and gave me the opportunities to share my gifts whenever I could." – Max Martin
